Makeup Tips Inspired by Lady Gaga
Tasha Reiko Brown is a celebrity makeup artist who helps get young Hollywood radiant for photo shoots and countless red carpet events, including the Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes. She writes frequently for The Style Glossy.

Borrowing makeup tips from Lady Gaga? Calm down and hear me out! Of course I’m not suggesting you show up at the office with black eyeliner and crystals on your face -- at least not if you like being employed. But taking beauty tips from Lady Gaga doesn’t have to be so extreme. I’m talking about shaking things up, trying something that’s not quite you. I’m suggesting stepping outside of your makeup comfort zone, putting on a new mask, playing someone else for the day. The results will surprise others (and you) and may change the way you see your beauty.

Research is key. Lady Gaga herself draws inspiration from different eras and from current fashion shows. Start your experiment by flipping through high-fashion magazines or watching your favorite period films. Recent runway shows online are also great keys to reinvention. Take note of looks that interest you, but seem just a little too bold for you to try. Then, grab the liquid liner, get brave and go there!

To go Gaga on a budget, try inexpensive makeup brands from your local drugstore. While the products may not be what you’ll choose to use day in and day out, they are just right for your new experimental face. Usually go for a neutral palette? Do a bold eye and lip. Go even further and add lashes! Like a bold look daily? Switch it up and do pastels, maybe even play around with a pastel smoky eye for night. For a really modest price, you can try look after look. Just be sure to keep everything well-blended. This keeps your new beauty looking intentional -- not haphazard or accidental. Sloppy is never a trend.

The idea is to be fresh and forward, and to awaken to new possibilities. If anyone questions your adventurous new take, just say with confidence: “It’s the biggest thing in Paris and Milan.”
