Valentine’s Day Makeup Ideas
Makeup Mirror Blog
Date makeup -- and especially Valentine’s Day date makeup -- can be daunting! On one hand, you want to look special, but on the other hand, you want to look like yourself so that your honey is on a date with, well, you. My motto: “Look like you … only better.”
Since you’ll probably be dining in the evening, it’s important to give your skin the attention it deserves in your beauty routine so that you look radiant. Rather than a full-coverage matte foundation, choose one that has a luminous finish. Next, apply a small amount of bronzer. Remember, bronzer is most flattering when it looks subtle, so pick one that’s just a shade deeper than your normal skin tone. Used minimally in the hollows of your cheeks and on your temples, you will create warmth and dimension rather than turning your skin a darker shade that looks artificial. Then, on the high points of your face (i.e., your upper cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and your brow bone), use a soft highlighting powder in gold or champagne. Finally, opt for a bright coral or pink blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend upward.
Moving on to eyes, cover your entire lid -- from lash line to brow bone -- with a shimmery champagne shadow. Then swipe a mid-tone brown in the crease and under the lower lash line. Apply a black kohl liner on the inner rim, curl your lashes and brush on two coats of thickening mascara, and your eyes will look bright and sexy -- not overdone. On your lips, choose a brown-pink lipstick, which is flattering on almost all skin tones. Finish it with a clear or pale glistening gloss to give your mouth a sexy shine that will complement your eyes.
With these simple makeup ideas, your face will be glowing even more than the candle that’s flickering between you and your sweetie.
