Easy Tips for Sexy Summer Hair
The Hair Brush
After a long, cold winter and a very cool spring, along comes summer, and the living gets easier.
But what about your hair?
You certainly want to look good while relaxing by the ocean or the pool. Both can really take their toll on hair, so fight back and do it with style. Just follow these easy ideas for summer-perfect hair that’s even sexier than the social-circuit ’dos of the other seasons.
Slick back your hair with a good slather of conditioner. Many conditioners on the market today contain sunscreens. Plus, the conditioner itself on your hair will reflect the light of the sun and prevent damage from salt water and chlorine.
If your locks are long enough, braid them into the current de rigueur over-the-shoulder braid or gather hair into a ballerina bun on the top of your head. If your hair is too short, invest in some fun clips to hold it back, keeping your hair protected and out of the way for swimming and other summer fun. To avoid a severe effect, pull out a few strands to soften the look. Reapply a little conditioner after each dip.
Heading to a surf-side bar for post-beach cocktails? Here’s a great tip: Rinsing your hair with mineral water is an easy way to freshen up. But use sparkling water, not still. Why? Because it works the same as shampoo: It contains bubbles, which attract dirt and oil to the surface, cleansing the hair. Pour the water on your hair and lightly rake through with your fingers. Squeeze out excess water, then restyle into an easy updo or other out-of-the-way style. Don't be a perfectionist! Slightly unkempt is sexy.
Freshen up your makeup a bit, tie on the sarong, then off you go!
