Spring Hair!
The Hair Brush
It starts with new color, especially in makeup. No more deep shades to go with the winter looks. Pinks and peaches will brighten and enliven your pasty winter complexion. Banish smoky eyes and opt instead for lavender and pale gold shadows. Full sets of individually placed lashes really draw attention. For lipstick, stick with pinks and soft neutrals.
Don’t fall into the trap of “this is the new color.” Make sure to keep your individuality and work with your natural complexion. As you begin to get a bit more color in your skin, a light tinted moisturizer can suffice for a heavier foundation.
When it comes to your hair, spring is the best time to get a new look. As a hairdresser for 33 years, I have seen so many women make the mistake of keeping their hair too long. It weighs down the face, having the opposite effect of what we want -- which is to look fresh and youthful. Soft layering around the face with shoulder-length hair can bring a wonderful gamine look. Remember to alter your hair conditioning program as dry indoor heating is slowly replaced by slightly humid spring. Ask you hairdresser for suggestions on a new springtime look and a new treatment regimen. When a client comes in and says, “Let’s do something different,” my day is made. Say good-bye to the Artic and hello to flowers!
